Posted by Emil – February 24, 2010

After a long period of silence, our blog is starting to come alive again. We apologize from being away for so long, but we are back!

I have been asked to provide our most striking wildlife image from last year. I wanted to ask around to get a more neutral approach, because I have fallen in love with all of this ones. So I thought writing a blog post might be the best way!

So I just need to know, from your perspective which ones from the following images, you think is the most striking wildlife shot!

Please try to be as selective as possible, that way I already can see what is worth sending and whit what I can spare some time.  If it gets published, I will let you know :0) Just click on the comments below, and you will find a form to send me the # number of your favorite image.

Thanks for your help! Here are the images:

#1 Caribou migration from the air. Alaskan Arctic:

#2 Aerial perspective of Murres swimming over icy waters. Alaskan Arctic.

#3 Munk’s Devil Ray congregation. Baja, Mexico.

#4 Ringed Seals resting over ice caps. Alaskan Arctic.

I’m torn between the caribou and the rays in Baja. Only concern about caribou is that at first glance, it’s VERY hard to tell what’s going on– but the color is really striking. The composition of the rays is phenomenal, and my guess is people would interpret this is wonderful and diverse ways. But the contrast/color isn’t as dramatic.

Ringed seals are pretty great too, but I wished the seals popped more off the ice…

Hope this helps– and good luck!

Tough decision because each capture is extremely unique and I think they are all winners. Putting that comment aside I am always drawn to #3 “Minks Devil Ray Congregation”. The odds of coming across that situation and being able to capture that photographically are well for me like winning the lottery. When I look at that image I am drawn to it because I almost look at it in disbelief! There is just no way those are all the same species congregating in the same place. # 3 it is!

Minks Ray and Caribou. I agree with Amy on the color on the Caribou but first time looking through the pictures Minks Ray stood out.

#6 a wild mexican female Jaguar.

Rays are my favorite, where are the Sea Otters?

  • Emil

    on March 2, 2010 at 4:14 am

Hey Carl! I know, the otters are so sweet aren’t they? But I had to provide newer material, otherwise I would’ve definitely added them to the selection. It is so nice to hear that someone remembers images from us. Thank you man! Give a big hug to Walker!!!
