Florian & EmilFREEDOM TO ROAM: WILDLIFE CORRIDORS - VIDEO TRAILER

After several months of already being out there, the Freedom to Roam trailer continues to gather positive feedback. If you like it or would like to send us a comment, please use our form in the Contact section. We would love to hear from you. It was challenging but compelling to produce a piece to inspire positive change towards america's wilderness and the arctic.

The trailer was officially presented at the AWL (Alaska Wilderness League) film festival during the 20th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez tragedy. Oil drilling in the arctic is a constant threat and with this multimedia work we want to share with you why this ecosystem is unique and irreplaceable. Enjoy!

Arctic Aerial ExpeditionAERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION IN THE ALASKAN ARCTIC

Alaska is a huge state. It actually is bigger than Texas, Montana and California combined. It quickly became clear that Florian needed to go up in the air to be able to cover Alaska`s arctic in its full extend.

He worked with 2 different pilots for 2 months to complete a comprehensive picture of the Alaskan Arctic. He focused on the 3 major caribou herds and on the conservation hotspots like Prudhoe Bay, sites of proposed coal mines and the Red Dog mine on the Western Arctic coast.

This arctic aerial expedition was a major undertaking that needed significant research, funding and good planning. It was a true „mega flyover“ as Florian tried to cover iconic landscapes, show the arctic ocean and sea ice, and photograph the caribou migration in the grand arctic landscape, yet also show the impacts of development. In this blog style video you get an impression of a small segment of the work as Florian is documenting the Western Arctic Caribou herd.

Photographing wildlife often demands a lot of patients. This is specially true if you are trying to caputre a very spezial moment. While just the thought of sitting for hours in a blind,  drives many people nuts, it is something that just comes with the job of a wildlife photographer.

Florian seems to have infinite patience in such situations where he envisions such a special photograph. He would sit for hours at a time without a problem, waiting for the right moment. I spend 2 entire days and nights with Florian in the blind while we photographed and filmed this incredible bird in the Alaskan Arctic. To read more about the experience visit our blog>>
